Conducted by the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee on behalf of Department of Health and Family Welfare of the West Bengal Government which regulates the counselling important parts such as counselling schedule, registration process, curriculum, reservation and other steps which ensure the smooth and hasslefree counselling.

With over the 35 medical colleges and about 6 dental colleges participating in State Counselling makes medical educational landscape of the west bengal more constructive. The counselling conducting authority will be the responsible body for 85% of the admission to medical and dental whereas the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will handle rest of 15% seats. 

Candidates who have qualified in NEET-UG or NEET-PG for the current year and meet domicile or NRI quota requirements are eligible to participate. Counselling is typically conducted in two rounds, followed by special stray rounds if seats remain vacant. Registration takes place online through the WBMCC website, where you can select colleges and courses based on your preferences and eligibility. Seats are assigned according to merit rank, category, and your preferences.

For State Quota

Counselling Registrations 

Register Online (When Available):

  • Visit the WBMCC website and access the online registration portal (Click Here).
  • Enter your NEET UG 2024 details and other required information accurately.
  • Pay the registration fee online using the specified method.
  • Upload scanned copies of the required documents as instructed.
  • Submit your registration and confirm successful submission.

Document Verification (Later Stage):

  • This step usually happens after registration closes. You'll receive further instructions.
  • Attend the designated document verification center based on your scheduled date and time.
  • Carry all original documents and self-attested photocopies.
  • Get your documents verified by the authorities.

Counselling Process

Registration:

  • Website: Visit https://wbmcc.nic.in during the specified dates.
  • Eligibility: You must have qualified for NEET UG 2024.
  • Click "New Registration" and enter your details: Roll No., Application No., Name, Mother's Name, Date of Birth.
  • Verify details and proceed to application.
  • Choose your category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR) and PwD status (if applicable).
  • Pay the online fee (non-refundable).
  • Download your candidate profile letter.

Rounds:

1. Round 1:

  • Physical document verification: Attend the designated venue with original documents and photocopies.
  • Choice filling and locking: Select your preferred colleges and lock your choices.
  • Seat allotment: Seats are allotted based on merit and category.
  • Physical document verification at allotted college: If allotted, verify documents at the college.
  • Admission: If documents verified, pay fees and secure admission.
  • Option to participate in subsequent rounds: Choose if you want to participate in further rounds.

2. Round 2:

  • Open to: Candidates who didn't get a seat in Round 1, new candidates, and those who want to upgrade their choices.
  • Repeat steps: Follow the same steps as Round 1 (document verification, choice filling, etc.).

3. Round 3:

  • Open to: Similar to Round 2, plus candidates who didn't appear for verification in earlier rounds.
  • Repeat steps: Similar to Round 1 and 2.

4. Online Stray Vacancy Round:

  • Open to: Any remaining vacant seats, new candidates, and those who didn't get a seat earlier.
  • Repeat steps: Similar to Round 1 and 2, but no choice upgradation allowed.

For State Quota 

  • Candidate Profile Letter and payment receipt generated online after successful payment
  • Domicile certificate (a1, a2, b) or domicile certificate from e-district website
  • Valid Voter card/Aadhar card/Passport of parent in case of domicile certificate of parent is given showing address as West Bengal (any 2 of the three ID cards as mentioned above)
  • Caste certificate as applicable. ( issued in the State of West Bengal)
  • NEET UG 2024 admit card.

  • Relationship of the NRI sponsor with the candidate as per order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in case WP (C) No 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) and Anr vs. The Union of India and Ors. Dated 22-08-2017
  • Notarized Affidavit before the first class magistrate of the sponsor that he/she shall sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate

NEET UG Counselling 2024

NEET Counselling 2024 Primerily consist of Registrations, Choice filling, Choice Locking, Seat Allottement, Commenceme of Round of Counselling, Upgradtion and Reporting to Colleges which very Step to follow ensuring the smooth and effective way to complete counselling and get admitted to your desired colleges and making your dream come true as medical aspirant, Here’re some about steps to follow during Counselling Process;

Step 1: Registration 

  • First and Foremost step to follow for Counselling is registration, Visit to the Medical Counselling Committee’s official website (Click Here).
  • Then Locate the Registration link named ‘UG Counselling Registrations’ and Click on it
  • After registration link has opened carefully filled up the registration form mentioning you personal details, academic details and other important details.
  • After filling out registration form, make the payment for registration in make payment Section using the debit card or UPI.
  • Once the payment is done, you will have the ‘preview’ where you can preview the registration and check whether details you have provided are correct or Not. Once you checked all the details you have provided click on ‘okay’. Take print out of registration or download pdf form for future references 
  • Once registration is done click on the log out from the registration and move onward to choice filling Sections 

Step 2: Choice Filling 

  • Upon registration the next step to follow is ‘Choice Filling’ where you can prefer list of Medical and dental colleges of your choice ensuring the best options for medical journey 
  • After registration. Login again for the choice filling  with details you have provided during registration.
  • Once you have logged in to choice filling, now you can fillied up choices for list of collehges which are best suited for you. 
  • There is no limit for the list of choices you can select.
  • Onces the choice filling is done move on to Choice locking section.

Step 3: Choice Locking 

  • Once you selected all your perferred choice move on to the Choic Locking section ensuring that choices you have selected will be used in first round of NEET Counselling.
  • Once you checked throughly through your selected perference, start locking all the colleges.
  • Once you have locked all the choices, you can’t change the perference untill next round of counselling so carefully lock the choices

Step 4: Rounds of Counselling 

 The counselling for medical and dental will conducted with four rounds of Counselling while each round follows typical steps such as registration (for first round only. Auto Consideration for the other rounds), Choice filling and locking, seat allottment, result and document verification and reporting to allotted colleges;

Round 1:

  • Register: Pay fees and register on MCC website.
  • Choices: Fill and lock preferred colleges & courses.
  • Seat Allotment: Based on rank & choices, get a seat.
  • Results & Documents: Check result, upload certificates.
  • Reporting: Report to college with documents (upgrade option).

Round 2:

  • Automatic Consideration: No need to register if not allotted in Round 1.
  • Fresh Registration: Register for Round 2 if new or missed Round 1.
  • Choices: Fill new choices and lock them.
  • Seat Allotment & Reporting: Similar to Round 1.
  • Upgrade: Upgraded candidates need relieving from Round 1 seat.

Round 3:

  • Automatic Consideration: Similar to Round 2.
  • Fresh Registration: Similar to Round 2.
  • Choices & Reporting: Similar to Round 1 & 2.

Final Stray Vacancy Round:

  • Register: New registration required.
  • Elimination: Candidates with seats are eliminated.
  • Vacancy Round: Fill choices for vacant seats.
  • Seat Allotment: Based on merit in this round.
  • Joining: Join allotted seat or face consequences.

Step 5: Seat Allottment Process for the Rounds 

Here’s how seat allottment process works;

Common Steps for All Rounds:

  • Choices Locked: After the choice filling window closes, your choices are locked.
  • Rank Processing: Your NEET score and category are used to calculate your rank.
  • Seat Allocation Algorithm: Seats are allocated based on a pre-defined algorithm considering:
  1. Your rank in NEET Exam
  2. Your locked choices
  3. Seat availability in your chosen colleges and courses
  4. Reservation categories
  • Seat Allotment Results: Results are announced on the official website (MCC for AIQ, state websites for state quota).

Seat Acceptance:

If Allotted:

  • Download your allotment letter.
  • Upload required documents within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Report to the allotted college with original documents for physical verification.

Not Allotted:

  • Wait for the next round or consider Stray Vacancy Round (if applicable).

Step 6: Upgradations

  • Only applicable if you were allotted a seat in Round 1 or 2.
  • Not possible in the Final Stray Vacancy Round.

  • Check Upgradation Option: After each round's result, see if upgradation is allowed in the next round.
  • New Choices (Optional): If allowed, you can add or modify your choices for upgradation during the specified window.
  • Locking: Lock your final choices for upgradation before the deadline.
  • Upgradation Results: Wait for the next round's seat allotment results.
  • Upgraded or Not Upgraded:
  1. Upgraded: You'll receive an allotment letter for the new seat. Follow the acceptance steps (document upload, reporting) at the new college.
  2. Not Upgraded: You retain your previous seat allocation.

Steps 7: Reporting to Allotted Colleges 

Once you're allotted a seat in your desired college through NEET Counselling, it's time to secure your spot! Here's a simplified breakdown of the reporting process:

Steps:

  • Download Allotment Letter: Access and download your official seat allotment letter from the MCC website (for AIQ) or your state counselling authority's website.
  • Document Verification: Prepare all required documents as mentioned in the allotment letter and official guidelines. These typically include:
  1. Admit card, scorecard, mark sheets, certificates
  2. Proof of identity and date of birth
  3. Category certificate (if applicable)
  4. Allotment letter
  5. Photocopies of all documents
  • Reporting Deadline: Strictly adhere to the reporting deadline specified in your allotment letter. Late reporting can lead to cancellation of your seat.
  • Physical Reporting: Visit the allotted college in person within the stipulated timeframe. Carry the original documents for verification.
  • Document Verification at College: College authorities will verify your documents and confirm your admission.
  • Fee Payment: Pay the necessary fees as per the college's instructions.
  • Seat Confirmation: Upon successful document verification and fee payment, your seat in the college is confirmed.

Admission Process

After receiving your allotment letter:

  • Pay Fees: Follow instructions on the letter and university website to pay the centralized advance tuition fee.
  • Report to College: Visit the allotted college in person within the specified timeframe. Bring the following documents:

  3. High School (10th) certificate (age proof)
  4. Intermediate (10+2) certificate and marksheet
  5. NEET UG 2023 Admit Card and Result/Rank letter
