No NEET Re-Test, Rules Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of India has rejected petitions seeking a re-test for NEET UG and the cancellation of the results announced last month. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud stated that there is no evidence of a widespread leak of the question paper that would justify a re-exam.
Details of the Paper Leak Investigation
The CBI reported that the NEET UG question paper was leaked on May 5 in Hazaribagh and transmitted to Patna. Despite this, the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta provided data showing no significant impact on the overall results or the number of candidates gaining admission.
Controversial Physics Question
The court also addressed an issue with a Physics question in the NEET UG exam, which had two correct answers, resulting in some candidates receiving grace marks. The Supreme Court requested IIT Delhi to provide an expert opinion on this matter.
What’s Next?
With the Supreme Court’s ruling, the NEET UG results will be revised, and the counselling process for undergraduate medical admissions is expected to start on July 24. Over 23 lakh students appeared for NEET UG on May 5 across various centers.
