With over 68 medical colleges and 38 dental colleges Maharashtra’s counselling conducting authority will start the NEET counselling process, which meticulously follows the transparent and fair approach to the admission of the medical and dental colleges. The state counselling (Centralized Allotment Process) has authority over 85 % of the Medical and dental seats in government and private colleges whereas the 15% of seats will be filled with AIQ for which the counselling is done by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
The Counselling Process starts after the release of the NEET Exam 2024 results, which is held on June 14th 2024. The counselling will be followed in simple steps, such as registration. Choice filling and locking, round for counselling, seat allotment, merit list, document verification and reporting to the colleges. There will be four rounds of counselling whereas the stray vacancy round will be the optional round in case any seats remain vacant.

Counselling Registration
Step 1: Apply Online:
- Visit www.mahacet.org and click on the "Apply Online for NEET-UG 2024" link.
- Carefully read the instructions and click "NEXT".
- Fill out the application form with accurate details, including your mobile number and email address.
- You'll receive an OTP for verification.
- Complete the form and agree to the declaration.
- Click "I Agree" to submit the form.
- Enter a password during submission.
Step 2: Fee Payment:
- Pay the prescribed online fee as per your category.
- Bank transaction charges are additional.
- Print the fee payment receipt for your records.

Counselling Process
Eligibility and Registration:
- If you've cleared NEET-UG 2024, you're eligible to participate in the CAP Rounds.
- Register online within the stipulated timeframe. You have the option to register before both Rounds 1 and 3.
Understanding the Rounds:
- The selection process involves four or more online CAP rounds, each considering available seats and candidate preferences.
- Seats include those unfilled in previous rounds and those vacated due to non-joining or cancellations.
Round 1:
- Express Your Preferences: Fill out fresh choices, indicating your preferred colleges based on factors like location, infrastructure, and reputation.
- Joining and Upgradation: If you're satisfied with the allotted seat, join and report to the college. But if you aim for an upgrade in the next round, avoid submitting the Status Retention Form.
- Status Retention: Submitting this form signifies contentment with your allotted seat and excludes you from further rounds.
- Non-Joining Implications: If you don't join the Round 1 seat, you're eligible for Round 2.
Round 2:
- Available Seats: Seats encompass those unfilled in Round 1 and those vacated due to various reasons in Round 1.
- Eligible Candidates: This round includes:
- Candidates who missed registering or filling choices in Round 1.
- Candidates who participated in Round 1, weren't allotted a seat.
- Candidates facing seat cancellation in Round 1 due to incorrect claims, will have the opportunity to participate again with rectified information.
- Round 1 participants who joined their allotted college but didn't opt for status Retention.
- Candidates who didn't join their Round 1 seat.
- Candidates who joined in Round 1, resigned within the stipulated timeframe, and wish to participate again.
- Fresh Choices: Remember to submit new choices for Round 2, as previous ones are no longer considered.
- Joining and Upgradation: If you're allotted a seat, joining the college is crucial. You can still seek an upgrade in Round 3.
- Non-Joining Repercussions: Not joining the Round 2 seat makes you eligible for Round 3 only after registering again.
Round 3:
- Available Seats: Seats comprise those unfilled in Rounds 1 and 2 and those vacated due to non-joining or cancellations in any previous round.
- Eligible Candidates: This round includes:
- Candidates who missed registering or filling choices in Rounds 1 and 2.
- Candidates who joined Round 2 but didn't opt for Status Retention.
- Candidates who participated in Rounds 1 and 2 but weren't allotted a seat.
- Candidates who registered specifically for Round 3.
- Fresh Choices: Submit new choices once more, as the previous round's decisions don't hold value here.
- Joining is Mandatory: Joining the allotted seat in Round 3 is compulsory.
Subsequent Rounds and Stray Vacancies:
- If seats remain vacant after Round 3, online stray vacancy rounds will be conducted.
- Only candidates who haven't secured a seat in prior rounds are eligible to participate.
- Similar to previous rounds, submit fresh choices during stray vacancy rounds.

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2024
MCC NEET Counselling 2024 primarily consist of Registrations, Choice filling, Choice Locking, Seat Allotment, Commencement of Round of Counselling, Upgradation and Reporting to Colleges which every Step to follow to ensure a smooth and effective way to complete counselling and get admitted to your desired colleges and making your dream come true as a medical aspirant, Here’re some about steps to follow during Counselling Process;
Step 1: Registration
- The first and foremost step to follow for Counselling is registration, Visit the Medical Counselling Committee’s official website (Click Here).
- Then Locate the Registration link named ‘UG Counselling Registrations’ and Click on it
- After the registration link has opened, carefully fill up the registration form mentioning your personal details, academic details, and other important details.
- After filling out the registration form, make the payment for registration in the Make Payment Section using the debit card or UPI.
- Once the payment is done, you will have the ‘preview’ where you can preview the registration and check whether the details you have provided are correct or Not. Once you checked all the details you have provided, click on ‘okay’. Take a printout of the registration or download the pdf form for future references
- Once registration is done, click on the log out from the registration and move onward to choice filling Sections
Step 2: Choice Filling
- Upon registration, the next step to follow is ‘Choice Filling’ where you can choose a list of Medical and dental colleges of your choice ensuring the best options for your medical journey
- After registration. Log in again for the choice filling with details you have provided during registration.
- Once you have logged in to choice filling, now you can fill up choices for a list of colleges which are best suited for you.
- There is no limit to the list of choices you can select.
- Once the choice filling is done move on to the Choice locking section.
Step 3: Choice Locking
- Once you have selected all your preferred choices, move on to the Choice Locking section ensuring that the choices you have selected will be used in the first round of NEET Counselling.
- Once you check thoroughly through your selected preference, start locking all the colleges.
- Once you have locked all the choices, you can’t change the preference until the next round of counselling so carefully lock the choices
Step 4: Rounds of Counselling
The counselling for medical and dental will be conducted with four rounds of Counselling while each round follows typical steps such as registration (for first round only. Auto Consideration for the other rounds), Choice filling and locking, seat allotment, result and document verification and reporting to allotted colleges;
Round 1:
- Register: Pay fees and register on MCC website.
- Choices: Fill and lock in preferred colleges & courses.
- Seat Allotment: Based on rank & choices, get a seat.
- Results & Documents: Check results, upload certificates.
- Reporting: Report to college with documents (upgrade option).
Round 2:
- Automatic Consideration: No need to register if not allotted in Round 1.
- Fresh Registration: Register for Round 2 if new or missed Round 1.
- Choices: Fill new choices and lock them.
- Seat Allotment & Reporting: Similar to Round 1.
- Upgrade: Upgraded candidates need relieving from Round 1 seat.
Round 3:
- Automatic Consideration: Similar to Round 2.
- Fresh Registration: Similar to Round 2.
- Choices & Reporting: Similar to Round 1 & 2.
Final Stray Vacancy Round:
- Register: New registration required.
- Elimination: Candidates with seats are eliminated.

Step 5: Seat Allottment Process for the Rounds

Seat Acceptance:
If Allotted:
- Download your allotment letter.
- Upload required documents within the stipulated timeframe.
- Report to the allotted college with original documents for physical verification.
Not Allotted:
- Wait for the next round or consider Stray Vacancy Round (if applicable).
Step 6: Upgradations
